Rubber Experimentation
As the textile industry continues to seek more sustainable alternatives, natural rubber has emerged as an eco-friendly solution for dyeing fabrics. This study explores the benefits of using rubber-based dyes, emphasizing their biodegradability, non-heat processing, waterproof properties, and versatility in textile applications. Unlike conventional synthetic binders, rubber-based dyeing offers a sustainable alternative with significant environmental and practical advantages.

From My childhood to textile
This study investigates the use of natural rubber as a sustainable dyeing medium, driven by both material exploration and personal memory. Inspired by colors from my childhood—shades I rarely see now due to urbanization and social shifts—I sought to recreate them using plant-based dyes. Green came from papaya leaves, mint green from sweet potato, and blue from butterfly pea, a flower deeply tied to my memories of making tea for my mother after her long workdays. By combining these familiar pigments with rubber, I explored an alternative, heat-free dyeing process that enhances durability while remaining biodegradable. This experiment reflects not only material innovation but also the fading connection between nature and everyday life.
